History
Mark and Sharon Irvin, husband, and wife, are the nuclei for KC MASS, both with an extensive history of helping customers with their construction and real estate needs.
Mark’s construction entrance stems back to 1986 when he performed “make-ready” apartment units for a Kansas City public housing contractor. While implementing his construction skills efficiently, the management company observed his quality of work. Then, Mark was invited to contract other projects outside the public housing arena and formed a general construction company. Mark advanced his skills and secured licensing as both a general contractor and a real estate broker.
Sharon became a licensed real estate agent in 2001, practicing in St. Louis, Missouri. Her passion for helping people propelled her to single-handedly close forty-two transactions in her second year in business. The drive that Sharon exhibited gained her respect from both her clients and industry peers. Also, the remarkable accomplishments elevated her status to both Rookie of the Year and Top Residential Closing Agent in her organization. Sharon discovered her strength and passion was representing the buyer; therefore, leading her to specialize in Buyer’s Agency for real estate transactions.
They married in 2003 and started KC MASS the same year. Together they strategically acquired single-family rehabs to hold and sell, managed remodeling projects as general contractors, and rendered consulting services for both real estate and construction services.
A pathway to an unforeseen market-led KC MASS to become a specialty construction company. Mark’s physical health took a turn after a hip replacement procedure, which caused him extended mobility limitations. That became the cause for championing an expanded market for KC MASS to provide home modifications for people with physical disabilities and limitations. The company became a pioneer in the metropolitan Kansas City area for residential home adaptations. Home modifications enabled the elderly to age-in-place and people with physical disabilities to navigate their homes safely. From that point forward, KC MASS leadership embraced industry and education to learn and implement strategies that maximize the services offered for the general public and KC MASS clients.
Now in 2020, KC MASS has been positioned as an International Building Code (IBC) Class A General Contractor. This caliber of licensing qualifies KC MASS to construct, remodel, repair, or demolish any structure. With the Class A licensing, the organization continues to offer innovative strategical consulting to individuals and entities, addressing their needs regardless of the project scope. The company can also develop plans and manage projects, including ground-up construction, universal design remodeling (accessible retrofits), room additions, and other diverse commercial tenant finish and residential remodeling projects.
